Genealogy

Although Lynda and I are fairly new at tracing ancestry we have had some success. Our interest is in tracing information about the people themselves not just how far back we can go.  We have come up with some facts ranging from an Iron founder in Macclesfield, Cheshire reputed to be responsible for inventing the "Simplex Pipe Joint" amongst other things,  whose iron work is still to be seen on the streets of Macclesfield, to a Matchmaker, reputed to be responsible for inventing the Safety Match then selling the patent. The tree now contains in excess of 300 names and continues to grow.

The frustration attached to hours of searching is just about balanced out by that feeling of success when you trace something !!

Victor Wentworth Harlow & Lynda Amelia (ne้ Levitt) - Their Family

Victor Wentworth Harlow

GENUKI: The UK & Ireland Genealogical Information Service - really useful resource

FAMILY TREE MAKER - my preferred software, unfortunately the various disks that come with the software for tracing family have proven to be useless to me.  The emphasis is on the USA.  However, the facilities provided by the software are excellent.
Church of the Latter Day Saints - Excellent site for research.  They allow searches which cover a tremendous amount inclusive of the 1881 British Census and Vital Records from Church and other records.
